I'm grateful for this national display of patriotism after 5 years of cowardice by the majority of the Congress on both sides of the aisle. I have little faith that the self-sabotaging Biden administration will wake up and lead in the face of this stark demonstration of the crossroads we face. I have even less faith that the pundits will realize that racism is yet another foil. The gut-wrenching truth is that Trump supporters don't worship Trump or white supremacy...these are the 'carrots' that attract 35% of the country, but it's obscuring the truth. This large minority worships sheer, unadulterated, unrestrained anarchy. This is the reason that conspiracy theories are flourishing...this minority can't (yet) admit to their base desires. There is no ideology. This isn't mere fascism because the base is dictating the terms. So what happens when this minority no longer feel the need to hide their true motivations?

I am really grateful for these guys speaking up and being frank about the fear and pain they felt.
Today will either be the last stand of decency in this country or a turning point towards democracy. It's clear to me which future is inevitable.
